8/30/2010 the afternoon tea ($19) was comprised of two scones, petite egg salad finger sandwiches, a mushroom quiche, and an assortment of four petite chocolates and cakes. though lovely items to nibble on as we sipped our pot of aromatic vietnam note de lotus tea, the savory items did not have much of a presence and was totally eclipsed by the sweets on the plate.   7/10/2009 Jin Patisserie is a chick magnet.

Offering handcrafted chocolates, dainty sandwiches, artisanal teas, and painfully beautiful cakes, it’s no surprise that Jin has to fight females off with a stick.

9/24/2008 I felt like high tea today, so I decided to stop by this place and check it out.  I'd heard people raving about it, so I figured I would try.  It's a tiny little place on Abbott Kinney.  I must have passed it a couple of times before I found it.  The patio area is walled off.  There is a little fountain in the middle, and the walls are lined with bamboo stalks.  The vibe was really quite mellow.

We walked into the place and noticed just how small it really was.  There was only one table for two inside, the rest of the seating was in the patio.  The walls are lined with refrigerated cases that store their different cakes and desserts.  We sat outside and ordered the high tea.  I chose a Sencha Ariake green tea to go with my tea.  Within 5 minutes, my server brought my tea.  Within minutes of that, she brought out my plate.  It was a decent sized platter that contained the following:
-two half sandwiches with egg salad
-small piece of poundcake
-two small scones
-a spinach and mushroom mini quiche
-a small mango custard dessert square
-a small green tea dessert square
-a chocolate mousse like dessert square with rasberry topping
-a piece of handcrafted chocolate with a liquer flavored filling
-some type of whipped butter
-some type of orange ginger chutney

All in all, I wasn't too impressed.  The dessert squares were all very tasty, but the sandwiches were pretty bland.  I would also expect more variety of sandwiches.  The quiche was really good, also.  But the scones were more roll-like in shape and texture, so it didn't feel like a scone.  I think it was 14 or 18 dollars for this plate, so not too expensive.

High tea was not impressive, but they did have a variety of desserts that looked amazing.  I believe you can order sandwiches and quiches as well.  The assortment of handcrafted chocolates looked amazing.  However, it was the high tea that I had, and truly, it left something to be desired.  My son Justin spit out everything he tried, and I trust his tastebuds.

Switched tea brands, but I love it anyways 9/15/2008 One of the few reasons that I'd visit Abbot Kinney area (where it's full of boutiques with overpriced clothes and furniture from designers I don't recognize, plus a few decent eateries), overall decent tea and desserts.  Afternoon tea is a must for first-timers to get a little taste of all they have to offer.  They also have one of the more interesting selections of tea around (French-imported from The O Dor).

On my most recent trip I was pretty full so I got a cake & tea set for $10.  Had the Act II green tea, very delicate and clean tasting with slight fruit & floral aromas.  For the cake I had something equally delicate, the Spring Bouquet, with meringue rolled in a light cream with strawberries and mango.  A wonderful half-hour respite from the hustle and bustle of Venice.
