5/20/2010 The location isn't anything spectacular; it is not across a contemporary condo on Abbot Kinney, nor is it on thriving overly chain-driven 3rd street in Santa Monica. Bulgarini Gelato is tucked away in a dark plaza which boasts a Rite-Aide and a few small stores. Please, excuse the forthcoming cliche: Bulgarini Gelato is a diamond in the rough.   7/28/2009 We each ordered smalls ($3.85), which allowed us to choose three different flavors. From the selection of fifteen gelatos, granitas, and sorbets available, I chose scoops of cherimoya, strawberry, and almond.   7/15/2009 I'll say it over and over, and over again. Bulgarini, barring Bar Gelato, brings the best gelato/ice cream game in LA. Read more from their blog Recommended Dishes Goat milk anything, Olive oil flavor, traditional Roman flavors ala nocciola, when available.

wonderful textures, flavors 7/13/2009 finally swung by here on Saturday following outdoorsy dinner in Altadena (a part of LA I rarely trek) -- I've had their gelato at the cart in the Pasadena Laemmle Playhouse theater before so excited to try again at the actual store.

The stuff is on the pricey side ($4-6 for a mini cup/cone of two/three flavors) but the texture is so good; the gelato is ultra smooth and creamy while the sorbet tastes just like frozen juice MINUS any of that icy coarseness I'd expect from most other sorbets 'cause of the ice crystals.

The flavors a nice mix between the familiar and the eccentric -- I particularly love the tangy-tart blood orange and "milk with lime" and the cheesecakey flavor of "yogurt with oil"; hey, the latter's healthy right?

Too bad it's in Altadena (though I'm sure my wallet will rejoice) but definitely a place to check out if you're in the area.
Recommended Dishes gelato!, sorbetto!
