Strolling around Porto's Bakery on a bustling Saturday afternoon, it's hard to imagine that the shop began over 35 years ago as a home-based business in Cuba. Since its humble beginnings, Porto's Bakery has garnered a devoted following, outgrowing several locations and eventually settling into a 20,000 square foot building in the heart of Glendale.

Best sandwiches ever! I was in Glendale for a week and I went there everyday for lunch after discovering this place and went down the menu to try all their sandwiches. I love the Cubano and feta cheese sandwich, and they are so cheap!
I bought boxes of their pastries to take home as well. Their regular pastries are pretty good. But you've got to try their potato balls and empanadas, and even their tamale -- Good stuff!
I will drive all the way back here just to have their sandwiches. There's a parking structure across the street on California/Central, which offers 90 minutes free parking. There's also a lot behind the store with metered parking. Yay!

i havent tried their sandwiches yet.
there's only one reason for me to make my way out to glendale to go to porto's....it's always me craving for some Guava cheese streudel and/ or cheese rolls. The pastries are so flaky and fresh..and soo addicting. When i come here, i always hope that they sold all the ones on the display case, so that they the have to give me the fresh ones from the oven.
their cake is pretty good too. i don't remember what my friend bought for his bday, but it was nice and light and has enough flavor.
man, just typing up this review makes me want a few of those pastries now.
