LudoBites.  A name that journalists, foodies and you and me have begun adding to our electronic dictionaries.  A name that’s becoming exponentially more popular by the week.  A name that really is the best thing since sliced bread.  A name that for me, started during the closing weeks at 2.0, caused me to go balls-to-the-walls crazy at the opening and closing  nights of 3.0, right before it completely hooked me. Line and sinker were soon to follow, and then all of a sudden, I found myself at the opening and closing nights of LudoBites 4.0 (plus all the nights in-between), but this time not as a diner, but cooking with Chef Ludo himself.

If you’ve been having trouble getting a reservation at Pizzeria Mozza – don’t fret. Try the first come, first served bar! Because you can see all the “action”, to me, this can be considered the “Chef’s Table” and is really the best seat in the house.

IT’S ALL IN THE MARINADE — is the mantra you should adopt when eating yakitori in Japan.  Since I don’t speak/read/gesture/or sign anything in Japanese, during my last stint in Japan, I downed whatever I happened to order.  In some cases, the meat tasted like chicken, and in others, well…not so much.  I was lucky to even successfully order chicken!  But you know as well as I that it’s usually considered the safest yakitori skewer, and more often than not, it’s the most boring.

I wish I knew what the name of this cocktail was.  I have a habit of asking the cocktail waitresses what their favorite signature drink of the house is, and this is what I got upon delivery.

This may look like the rice equivalent of Luke Skywalker's home on Tatooine, but rest assured you won't find this dish in the outer rim.  OK, Chandra Thai occupies a nice little chunk of real estate off S Arroyo Parkway in Pasadena, but that's not far enough to keep me away.

For as popular as this place is (and knows that they are), you'd think they'd be able to NOT run around out of food. I mean, if they don't run out of food, people come in droves. If they DO run out of food, they still come in droves but aren't forced to drown their "lack of red bean" sorrows over at JJ Bakery across the plaza for want of an order of Red Bean dumplings.

When I ordered their renowned "chilaquiles", I was half expecting a plate of heated up stale old chips doused in every condiment you might find on nachos, and maybe some scrambled eggs.

A German Slider Sandwich at Euro Market & Deli.  Just imagine --- a hot buttery freshly baked pretzel roll, freshly sliced Black Forest Ham, thin slivers of the super pungent BeerCheese and a few slices of red onion for that snap...

They’re not macarOOns, they are macarONs.  Very different.  At Pascal Epicerie, the first descriptor I came up with was… “they’re HOW much a piece?”
